Sports Chiropractic
Dr. Jason R. Brown, D.C. is a sports chiropractor in Reston, VA. He works with a lot of kids, athletes and families, from weekend warriors to competitors. The goal is to get you back to what you love to do.
Sports injuries go beyond the spine
Repetitive movement, intense training, impact injuries and overuse can lead to muscle imbalances, joint dysfunction and reduced performance. That’s why Dr. Jason treats a lot of extremities: shoulders, knees, feet and ankles, as well as the back and neck.
Often, where the pain shows up isn’t the area that needs treating. The painful area may be overworking for another area that isn’t pulling its weight, so we look at how you move, not just where it hurts.
How we treat sports injuries
- Extremity adjusting for shoulders, knees, feet and ankles, along with the spine.
- Kinesio taping to support muscles and joints without limiting your normal range of motion. You can wear it for several days, even in the shower or pool.
- Therapeutic exercises: strength, flexibility, agility and coordination work to prepare you to return to full participation, plus what to do at home between visits.
- Active sports and stretching massage from our massage therapists. It’s treatment, not a spa massage.
- Custom foot orthotics when foot, knee, hip or back pain starts with how your feet meet the ground.
About an hour, hands-on
Most visits are about an hour in the office: adjustments with Dr. Jason, then muscle work, stretching and exercises with Dr. Jason or one of our therapists. Your plan is customized to your sport, your injury and your goals.
It started with a football injury
Dr. Jason found chiropractic as an athlete. In his senior year of high school, his ankle was badly injured in a football game, and he thought his football days were over. A chiropractor who specialized in sports injuries got him back on the field. He finished the season as the starting running back, and kept kicking with the ankle he’d hurt.
That’s the care he wanted to give other people. Read Dr. Jason’s story.
The conservative first step
Dr. Jason wants to be the first person you see for an injury, and the most conservative. The goal is to keep you away from surgery and back in the game. If he can’t help you, he’ll get you to someone who can.
